Chick-fila Mom?!
Well, that is the the term I have heard when I tell people that I am going to be staying home full time with Nate. I hadn’t heard this until a couple weeks ago. It doesn’t sound like a terrible idea though:) Maybe I was a Chick-fila mom before I was actually a mom. The money I have spent there could have paid for a college education!
Anyway, Tyler and I made the decision a while back that I was going to stay home with Nate. It was a harder decision to make than I thought it would be but it has also been incredibly freeing. It is a crazy feeling to completely give up a salary though. I think that is what made it so hard. Then you get mad at yourself that you are so focused on what you will be giving up monetarily. I know I won’t miss it in a few years when I look back at the time I get to spend with Nate! It has really made us look at what our priorities are in our life. I will miss where I work (not like I won’t see these people) and will miss working with my husband. How many people get to do that? I am just so thankful to be able do this and thankful for a husband that has been so supportive of me. I have been overwhelmed with how encouraging people have been about our decision. It has just been extreme confirmation!
Wow! I love this baby boy!
Happy 8 month birthday Nate Nate!
What a quick month! I just realized it is already the 22nd again. Nate is moving right along…literally. He is 29 inches long and 17 1/2 lbs.
My top 8 favorite things about this sweet boy!
1. Going to get him out of bed in the morning and he is sitting down talking and smiling!
2. The talking! Da da da- ta ta ta.
3. His pointer finger. He sticks it out at everything. He waves with it and curiously touches everything with just one little pointer.
4. Raspberries! These of course come in between the babbles of conversation.
5. Playing by himself. I love to watch him when he is playing by himself as he talks to himself and inspects everything so intently.
6. Hugs. There is nothing like having this punkin wrap his arms around your neck and hold on:)
7. The constant standing. It is entertainment for hours.
8. Pushing him in the stroller. He loves it and will sing to everyone as he rides along holding onto the front tray. I think we have an extrovert on our hands. Not sure where that comes from:)
Still standing!
Nothing makes Nate more happy right now than to be standing! He walks around the ottoman, crib, packnplay, or just whatever. He is pretty brave with the one handed hold but has yet to go hands free because he was busy trying to master the slow sit down first. I had a feeling he was going to skip the crawling and go straight to walking. Then I think it will be a straight run. I use to laugh at those people with harnesses on their kids in the mall but it might not be a bad idea. Seriously though the only time he wants to crawl is to get to something else that he can walk around. I love his curiosity. Busy times!
Weekend:)
We have had a good weekend which I think is due to the beautiful weather! I think I am still recovering from the pollen and have whatever Nate had last week. Despite that junk we have had a fun weekend. My super husband let me take a nap on Friday morning while he took care of Nate. I slept for two incredibly deep, sound, and wonderful hours! Nice.
Then we went to lunch with friends. I have decided that lunch with friends will never be the same with kids involved. Not that we would want anything different:) It was fun Gerborgs!
The trifecta…
Nate is finally feeling a little better after a cold, pink eye, and croup. Whew! So all that to say I haven’t blogged for awhile.
We had to go to Nanmommy and Nandaddy’s to help us get better last weekend! Actually we planned on being there bc Tyler was at Passion all weekend but it was wonderful to have so much help (and entertainment and food).
We tried to go swing on the swing to make him feel better. It was a very short trip to the playground. I think he was annoyed by my attempt to make him play.
Stuffy!
I thought this picture says it all. Nate is so stuffy with a cold and fever too! So sad. I had to get out and go for a walk today and this was before we headed out. He didn’t put up much of a fight and was asleep before we were two houses down.
The world has changed as we know it!
Nate is officially crawling! He has been scooting around and rolling all over the place for awhile but this weekend he decided it was time to take off. He crawls with determination and speed! If that wasn’t enough he is pulling up on everything and loves to stand. I really think he would rather be walking. We also moved up to a bigger car seat this weekend. He is so proud of himself and it cracks me up!
